Who we are
At Laurier Heights Baptist Church, our identity and mission flow from a rich heritage of biblical faith, grounded in our Statement of Faith, ancient creeds, and shared commitment to one another. Out of this foundation grows our vision: Becoming Like Jesus as we follow His example, Being a Relational Community where no one walks alone, and Making a Difference in Our World by bringing the hope and love of Christ to our neighbourhood, our city, and beyond. Together, these truths shape who we are and the promises we stand on as a church family.
OUR VISION
Becoming like Jesus
Jesus is the foundation of our faith and here at Laurier we desire to follow Him and become like Him in our daily lives. We recognize that all of us are a work in progress and that being fashioned and formed in the likeness of Jesus is a life-long process.
Being a Relational Community
We are not called to walk out our faith alone! Our desire is to foster a relational community that enables people to come out of isolation and into relationship with others.
Making a Difference in Our World
Jesus calls us to make a positive impact on the world around us, so that the light and life of Jesus will touch the lives of our family and friends, and our neighbours and co-workers. As part of the Laurier Heights neighbourhood, we are working to help enrich and strengthen the people who live in this community, as well as people from other parts of the city, so that they experience the love of Jesus, and life in the Kingdom of God.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
STATEMENT OF FAITH
Rooted in our partnership with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada, our Statement of Faith beautifully expresses foundational truths about God’s sovereignty, the trustworthiness of Scripture, humanity’s need for redemption, and Christ’s saving work. It guides our beliefs, worship, and mission as a community of grace.
OUR COVENANT
As followers of Jesus, we joyfully pledge to walk together in love and truth—supporting one another through joy and sorrow, offering reconciliation and encouragement, living justly, and honoring God in every relationship. This covenant shapes how we live as a unified, caring family in Christ.
These ancient creeds—formed in the early centuries of the church—connect us to the rich heritage of Christian faith. They offer clear, timeless expressions about the Trinity, the person of Christ, and the Church, helping guide our own beliefs and conversations about Jesus today.
