In October 2006 we began a 3-year partnership with Canadian Baptist Ministries and the Bolivian Baptist Union. Our partnership includes a commitment to pray, to give financially and to send short term missions teams to Bolivia. In January 2007, we sent an advance team to begin our partnership in person and to experience how God is working in Bolivia (click our blog for all the details and pictures). In May 2008, we sent a second team. You can read more about the team and their adventures below (or choose from the menu on the left).
In this section you'll also read about exciting fundraising projects, including how God called John Hidber to build a canoe to be raffled off to raise funds to support our project. Click here for John's testimony, click here to follow the progress, and click here to go to the gallery and see pictures of the construction!
Fourth Annual Silent Auction and Iron Chef Competition! Try your hand at judging the chefs creations. Takes place on Saturday November 14th in the basement hall of Laurier Heights Baptist Church from 5 pm to 9 pm. The address of the church is 8505-142 Street in Edmonton. To get your free entrance ticket (required) please call Ellen in the general office at 780-483-5366.
This fundraiser will help us to support our STEP Bolivia partnership. Try your hand at judging the chef's creations! We are still looking for your donated services or goods for the auction such as souvenirs, crafts (pottery, original artwork, photography, jewelry), and even preserves or baked goods. Items can be brought to the church office or given to anyone on the Missions Committee (listed below).
Volunteers are needed in many areas to ensure that the evening will be a big success! If you would like to take on the challenge as an Iron Chef please talk to Pastor Steve. All other volunteers can contact any of the Missions Committee members: Dan Johns, Ingrid Reimerink, Jordan Mayes, June Trevoy, or Ken Spillett. Thank you!
The Whittles are going to Bolivia!
After going to Bolivia and feeling God moving in their lives, the Whittles have decided to make a commitment to the work with our brothers and sisters in Bolivia. They will be going for one year to teach English as the Baptist Center in Cochabamba as well as working with our STEP partners at the Casa de la Amistad (children who live in prison with their parents) and Jireh (children and teens outreach) progarms. For more information on these ministries see www.cbmin.org. To find our more information on how to partner with the Whittles contact the church. To see more details read the next pages.
